William Merino
Forward William Merino (187-F) had a great game in the last round for league's best team San Marcos and receives a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 9.
He had the game-high 9 points adding ten rebounds and four assists for San Marcos in his team's victory, helping them to outclass Nejapa (#5, 1-7) with 27-point margin 70-43. It allowed San Marcos to take over top position in the Salvadorean league. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Regular Season. San Marcos has a very solid 6-2 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. It's Merino's second year at San Marcos and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Merino has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in rebounds (9th best: 8.0rpg) and averages solid 2.4bpg.
Second best performed player last round was Cristian Amaya (180-PG-95) of Nejapa. He is a guard in his first season at Nejapa. In the last game Amaya recorded impressive 14 points and 9 rebounds. Bad luck as Nejapa lost that game 43-70 to the higher-ranked San Marcos (#1, 6-2). This loss caused Nejapa to slide to the very bottom (5) position in the standings. 7 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Nejapa managed to get this year. Amaya is a newcomer at Nejapa and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 13.3ppg (#8). He also registered 5.9 boards per game.
Third place about best performers goes to another San Marcos' star - forward Ronald Flores (186-F-84). Flores scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds. He was another key player of San Marcos, helping his team with a 70-43 easy win against the lower-ranked Nejapa (#5, 1-7). San Marcos confirms their top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 6 victories and 2 lost games. Flores has a very solid season. In 7 games in El Salvador he scored 11.6ppg. He also has 7.3rpg and 2.1spg.
Other top performing players last week:
4. Aldo Cantor (190-F-99) of San Marcos - 8 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
